Questions people ask

When should I start a Christmas business in 2026?

Now. Thanksgiving is November 26, Black Friday November 27, Small Business Saturday November 28 and Cyber Monday November 30. In the Philippines the season starts with the "ber months" on September 1, and in Nigeria the busiest stretch runs from mid-November into January.

If you trade under a business name, register it with the DTI (from ₱200 for barangay scope to ₱2,000 for national scope, plus ₱30 documentary stamp tax, valid 5 years) and with the BIR, and get a mayor's permit from your city or municipality. Online sellers have the same tax duties as other businesses.
