How to use it
Type your details
Your name, title, business, phone, email and website. Leave out anything you do not want to show.
Add your look
Pick your brand color and font, and add your logo. For a logo everyone sees, paste its web address.
Copy and paste
Click “Copy signature”, open your email app’s signature settings, paste, and save. Send yourself a test email.
Add it to your email app
Click “Copy signature” first. Menus change from time to time, so the names may differ slightly.
Gmail (on a computer)
- Click the gear at the top right, then See all settings.
- On the General tab, scroll to Signature and click Create new.
- Paste into the box, then click Save Changes at the bottom of the page.
Gmail does not keep pictures stored inside a signature. Use the logo web address box above, or upload the logo with Gmail’s own picture button.
Outlook
- New Outlook and Outlook on the web: Settings, then Account, then Signatures.
- Classic Outlook for Windows: File, then Options, then Mail, then Signatures.
- Make a new signature, paste, and save.
Outlook can show small spacing differences. Send yourself a test email to check.
Apple Mail (Mac)
- Open Mail, then Mail menu, then Settings (or Preferences), then Signatures.
- Pick your account, click +, and paste into the right-hand box.
- Untick Always match my default message font so your colors stay.
On iPhone, the signature box (Settings, then Mail) may keep only simple text and links.
Questions people ask
Is this email signature maker really free?
Yes. There is no sign-up, no fee, and Spark does not add its own logo or link to your signature.
Which email apps does it work with?
The signature is built as a simple table with the styles written into it, which is what Gmail, Outlook and Apple Mail accept. Each app shows it a little differently, so send yourself a test email after you paste it.
Why does my logo not show?
Gmail and some versions of Outlook remove pictures stored inside a signature, and some people’s email apps hide pictures until they choose to show them. The surest way is to put your logo on your website and paste its web address into “Logo web address”.
Why is the text a different shade of my color?
If your brand color is too light to read on white, Spark uses a darker version of it for the text so it meets the WCAG AA contrast level of 4.5:1. The colored side bar keeps your exact color.
What if “Copy signature” does not work?
Some browsers do not let a page copy formatted text. Spark then selects the signature for you, so press Copy (Ctrl+C or Cmd+C) and paste. You can also copy the HTML code if your email app accepts code.
Is my information uploaded?
No. The signature is built on your device. Your details and a small copy of your logo are kept in this browser so you do not have to type them again. “Start over” removes them.
