Free brand color palette maker

Pick one color you love and a mood, and Spark builds five brand colors that work together: a main color, a dark for text, a light for backgrounds, an accent and a neutral. Every color shows its codes and an honest check of whether text on it is easy to read. No sign-up, no fee.

      Questions people ask

Is this color palette maker really free?

Yes. There is no sign-up, no fee and no Spark logo on your swatch card. It runs in your browser.

How does Spark pick the other four colors?

It starts from your color and follows simple color rules for the mood you pick: a darker and a lighter color for text and backgrounds, a partner color for the accent, and a soft gray for small details. Shuffle tries new versions inside the same mood.

What do the contrast badges mean?

They show the WCAG 2 contrast ratio between text and the color behind it. “AA pass” means 4.5:1 or more, the level recommended for normal text. “Big text only” means 3:1 up to 4.5:1, which is fine for large headings but not small print. “Fail” means under 3:1. The numbers are rounded down, so a pass is never overstated.

What is in the PNG swatch card?

A 1600 × 1000 picture of your five colors with each hex and RGB code and what the color is for. It is handy to send to a printer, a sign maker or a designer.

Will my colors look the same in print?

Not always. Screens and printers show color a little differently, and the hex and RGB codes here are screen colors. Print a test before you order signs, cards or shirts, and ask your printer to match the color if it matters.

      Is anything uploaded?

No. The palette, the picture and the codes are all made on your device. Nothing is sent to Spark.
